Levis Lefty

Really loving the new Levis Lefty capsule range. Combining the differing talents of Japanese uber designers Takahiro Miyashita of deceased Number (N)ine and gun for hire Kazuki Kuraishi. What i love about the range is that they stay true to the brands heritage whilst managing to offer something new and nudge things forward. Its a collection by two designers who really love denim, understand its relevance and give it a context. I don't like over styled, over designed jeans. I like jeans to look like jeans with a focus on classic shapes and an appreciation of the key elements. Ultimately only the process of Wabi-Sabi can improve upon the 501 0r 505. What Takahiro Kuraishi have done is focus on the details and offered little design tweaks here and there. Half selvedge, donut buttons, dropped rear left pocket, hidden rear watch pocket etc. The biggest design feature is that as both designers are left handed many elements like the rear patch, red tab and coin pocket are all placed to the left. All this is distilled into a beautifully considered wistful collection. A love letter to Americana, the mythical West and Rock and Roll.

Awaiting the 505 with much excitement.
